Vodafone Plug-Ins To Boost Signal

Vodafone UK is set to launch a new plug-in box it claims will boost mobile phone signals at home.

Dubbed Access Gateway, the small device will plug into the home broadband connection, giving a localised burst of 3G signal.

The service will be offered to customers in Britain from July 1, with an optional pricing plan - a one-time purchase for around £160 or a monthly charge.

The mobile phone firm said the device can support up to four phone calls at a time, but the service will be accessible only with Vodafone phone services.

Vodafone UK's consumer director, Ian Shepherd, said: "The Vodafone Access Gateway will boost indoor mobile phone coverage for customers who, today, find they need to move around the rooms in their home to get a consistent signal strength".
