Spotify To Offer Instant Downloads

Users of music streaming service Spotify will soon be able to download MP3s via the site, thanks to an agreement with specialist download site 7digital.

The new service will be powered by 7digital and will allow Spotify users, once they have registered, to automatically pay for and download songs into both their Spotify collection and their 7digital account - all with just one click of the mouse.

It will be the first time that two companies have integrated their services onto one website.

7digital`s chief executive, Ben Drury, told the Daily Telegraph: "One of the most popular requests by Spotify users is for an easier way to download music to own, once they have found a song they like via streaming.

"Right now the process is quite labour-intensive and takes the user away from the Spotify site. We are integrating our services more closely in order to speed this process up and make it simpler for users keen to buy music they have discovered through Spotify.

"This should make it super easy for people to acquire MP3 tracks. Lots of people use Spotify to discover new music but then they want to own it."
