Skype has launched the latest version of its internet communications software for Mac users.
Skype 2.8 Beta for Mac contains a number of new features, including Skype Access and screen sharing.
The screen sharing function works by capturing, encrypting and transferring the content of a screen in real-time to another user.
The other feature, Skype Access, allows users to talk to other Skype members via the pay-per-minute WiFi hotspot access service, which is provided by Boingo Wireless.
There are more than 100,000 Boingo WiFi hotspots worldwide, enabling users to access the connection and contact any other user. The service charges per minute and the total is deducted from a Skype credit balance.
There is no connection fee or monthly charge and by signing into an account on skype.com users can keep tabs on how much they spend.
Scott Durchslag, Skype's chief operating officer, said: "The goal of the major new features is to makes Skype easier to use everywhere.
"Skype Access is perfect for those times when you need to make a few Skype calls or send some instant messages or emails while you're on the go, and screen sharing enables collaboration regardless of location."
