Enea has announced it is setting up a software development and training centre in Sweden focusing on open source mobile platforms such as Google's Android.
The software firm will establish an Android Competence Centre in Lund offering training programmes for developers of mobile phones, netbooks and mobile internet devices (MID) using open source technology.
The curriculum will target handset, MID and platform engineers who are migrating to Android.
The training package will benefit developers who currently use embedded software and device drivers and want to learn more about Linux and Android, while those with experience in Linux could gain knowledge of mobile platforms, the firm said.
Senior vice-president at Enea, Gregory Singh, said: "Android is clearly a disruptive technology in the mobile industry and in many cases the mobile value chain is struggling to assimilate, integrate and deliver Android platforms.
"The large size of our Android-focused consulting team at Enea Öresund places us among the strongest Android services players in northern Europe.
"We intend to further enhance our resources to help customers deliver Android-based handsets and mobile devices that exceed the functionality, performance and reliability expectations of the demanding consumer market."
