IBM has filed for a patent for an enhanced remote control that would facilitate two-way blogging as users watch television.
With the latest technology bloggers can access networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Joost, while watching their favourite programme on television.
Speaking on the new system, IBM said: "One of the joys of watching television is discussing with one's friends the juicy bits of a favourite show or the latest television programme."
According to the patent documents filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office, the new technology provides "automatic blogging of media viewing using an enhanced remote controller, suitable for use while viewing media programming and content."
The platform also "allows a viewer to auto-blog about currently experienced media programming in real-time without having to resort to direct interaction with a computer to perform the auto-blogging."
The documents read: "The enhanced remote controller allows the viewer to both communicate with a blogging server, and thus to a blogging service, as well as display responses to and from other bloggers with whom the viewer is communicating."
The documents, which were filed earlier this year and were discovered only recently by bloggers, did not give details when, or even if, IBM would commercially produce the technology.
