EA Announces Racing Game Challenge

Gaming fans will be able to put their racing skills to test in a UK-wide competition on Electronic Arts' new video game Need For Speed Shift.

EA is bringing the online driving challenge to UK gamers. Heats will take this weekend. Those setting the fastest lap times in the preliminary race in each store will go on to the final set of time trials at Thorpe Park, Surrey, on September 26.

The UK champion will win a Nissan 350Z GT sports car, while there will be a host of spot prizes for participants in individual stores, organisers said.

EA is releasing the latest title in its Need For Speed series on PCs, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable and Xbox 360 next month.

Stuart Lang, marketing director for EA UK, said: "With Need for Speed Shift ... by focusing on the driver's experience through the first-person view, we are able to capture the high-speed intensity and gripping emotions of racing.

"This contest will allow thousands of gamers across the UK to experience that feeling and reward them for their skill."
