Computer maker Dell has launched a new mini laptop that looks set to rival the popular Asus Eee PC.
Costing from £269, the much-anticipated Dell Inspiron Mini 9 is two-thirds the size of full-featured laptops, with an 8.9in screen, and weighs in at just 1kg.
Running off a 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, the machine has 1GB of RAM, an integrated Intel GMA 950 chip and is preinstalled with either Windows XP or Linux Ubuntu 8.04.
It also features Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, a three-in-one card reader, three USB 2.0 ports and a 1.3Mp webcam.
Dell has announced that three configurations of the laptop will be available: the Standard, Social and XP Edition. All boast a four-cell, 32Wh Li-Ion battery.
The company has also teamed up with Box.net to offer users up to 2GB of free online storage space, which can be expanded up to 25GB for a monthly fee.
