Microsoft's new search engine Bing is including tweets from "prominent and prolific" Twitterers in an attempt to provide users with more real-time data in the results.
The computer giant claimed that its search engine updates the Twitter results as they are posted - scoring a first over its rivals, including Google.
In a company blog, Sean Suchter, general manager of Microsoft's Silicon Valley Search Technology Centre, said: "There has been much discussion of real-time search and the premium on immediacy of data that has been created primarily by Twitter.
"We've been watching this phenomenon with great interest, and listening carefully to what consumers really want in this space."
Microsoft has integrated a few thousand Twitter accounts based on their followers count and the volume of tweets produced by them.
Anyone who types the name of a popular personality with the word "Twitter" or "tweets" in the Bing search box will find the latest post from the person as the topmost result.
Google, like any other search engine, integrates Twitter profiles and a few older tweets, but does not include up-to-the-minute results.
