Apple may introduce a camera in all its iPod devices, except the Shuffle, sources have claimed.
An unusually large order for camera subsystems has set off speculation that the next generation of iPods will be equipped with cameras.
Sources in Taiwan hinted at this possibility after the Cupertino-based company placed a substantially larger order for £6.2 camera subsystems.
Michael Arrington from Techcrunch argued that the order is too large for the iPhone 3GS alone, and cited a source who claimed that all iPod devices except the economical Shuffle, would feature an in-built camera.
Speculation about iPod devices featuring a camera began a month ago when Jeremy Horwitz, Editor-in-Chief at iLounge, obtained details about a camera iPod device, and produced a mock-up.
In another interesting development, casings procured from online Chinese/Taiwanese-based etailers for the iPod Nano and Touch appear to have holes in the place where a camera lens would go.
