iPhone users will now be able to stream music to their handsets from Spotify's vast music library after Apple approved its application.
The software will be available for free through Apple's iTunes App Store, however, subscribers would require to have a premium Spotify subscription.
The Swedish music streaming service submitted the application to Apple for approval in July.
There were rumours that the app may not be allowed by Apple, as Spotify with its millions of songs could stand as a threat for Apple, which currently dominates the digital music market.
The firm has also demonstrated an application for mobile phones based on Google's Android operating system.
Spotify was launched last year and it currently has over two million users in the UK, with more than six million across Europe.
Spotify founder Daniel Ek told BBC: "We're not surprised but we're thrilled. We had a great dialogue with Apple from day one.
"We're scaling up the systems because response has been tremendous even before the app is available."
